Objectives for Performance Task
After completing this task, students will be able to
Find the average velocity of an object, given its position as a function of time
Use the concept of limits to describe how the average velocity can be used to approximate the instantaneous velocity
Relate the concepts of average and instantaneous velocity to the secant and tangent line ideas used to define the derivative
Use the derivative of the position function to find the instantaneous velocity of an object
Use the derivative of the velocity function to find the instantaneous acceleration of an object
Explain what these different functions mean in terms of the rate of change of one variable with respect to another
